Mexico captain Rafael Marquez linked with massive drug cartel boss called 'The Uncle.The ex-Barcelona star's mother has been named in US documents as having bought a property with gang leader "El Tio" - where he is now building a football training complex.
Rafael Marquez , who is an idol in his native country - has been named in US documents for having links with top drug trafficker named Raul Flores Hernandez, aka "El Tio".The international skipper has denied the accusations, with previously reporting how the ex-Barcelona star was among 22 sanctioned by the US Treasury Department for alleged drug ties.But now he faces fresh claims that his mum, Rosa Alicia Alvarez Pinones, also has associations with"ElTio".According to the ikorodudailynews Reforma, data from the Public Property Registry of Jalisco shows that, in 2007, Rosa Alvarez and Raul Flores bought a large plot of land for around £265,000 (US $350,000) in a city bordering Guadalajara, Only two years later, El Tio sold 46.7% of his share to ex-footballer Miguel Zepeda, who in turn sold it to the mother of Marquez, according to reports.
The land is now being used by former Monaco and Barcelona star Marquez to build a £14.2million (US $1.9million) football training complex called 'The Eurocenter - Center for High Performance.But the attention is now switching from the player to his mother, who operates in the highest spheres of Mexican politics.She currently holds a seat in the Chamber of Deputies for the Green Party 'Ecologista de Mexico.'
Rosa Alvarez is also a federal deputy for her state, Michoacan, and has a political career dating back to 2005, when her son was in his seven-year stint at Barca.
