A robbery suspect who snatched a private car belonging to a police officer at gunpoint has been arrested by Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Akure.
The suspect identified as Kola Ogunnubi, popularly called ‘Oloye’ from Emure Ekiti was accused of terrorizing the people of Ondo state with members of his gang.The 35 year old who is currently awaiting trial for stealing a transformer cable in Ogbomoso, Oyo State had been committing crimes with his gang.
The police also arrested and paraded other members of the gang that have been allegedly terrorizing the residents.
The suspects, Friday Odiri, Monday Odiri, Monday Abiodun, Akintunde Henry, Abiodun Tunde, Ayodele Ayobami and Ayoh Genesis were arrested at different locations in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph said some of the suspects robbed their victims on highways, while others snatched vehicles and motorcycles at gunpoint.According to him, the culprits were part of a five-man armed robbery gang who had been on the watchlist of the police.
“The hoodlums confessed to the crime during our police investigation, and one AK-47 rifle was recovered from them along with a red motorcycle.”
Femi stated that investigation is in progress and the suspects will be charged to court as soon as possible
